Brookwood’s GI Joe™ HST™

Brookwood’s GI Joe™ HST™

Brookwood’s GI Joe™ HST™ (Heat Seal Technology) is a heat sealable fabric, that has the capability of creating waterproof, air holding products. This material can be sealed using radio frequency, ultrasonic, impulse, or heat bar welding. As part of a family of HST™ fabrics, GI Joe is laminated on both sides, allowing the customer to weld face to back, as well as the ability to weld items such as bindings and valves to the face of the laminate.

Brookwood HST™ materials are used in a variety of applications, including soft and hard armor encasements, dry bags, PFDs, medical devices and bedding, buoyancy compensators, and more. Produced in their ISO 9001 Wauregan, CT laminating facility, Brookwood’s HST™ fabrics are highly engineered to meet stringent industry specifications.

What is HST™?

What is HST™?

Brookwood’s HST™ brand stands for Heat Seal Technology, which is a thermoplastic urethane (TPU) laminate applied to various fabric substrates. This highly engineered material is manufactured to specific testing requirements based on the intended application. It’s used in products that require air holding, liquid holding or anything that needs to be sealed tight. We stock several popular versions of HST™ by the roll. Whether it be medical, industrial, or military, this material is a tried-and-true sought-after solution for many applications. We provide test reports and certifications with all production runs and shipments. Please check out some of our offerings or let us know your specific requirements.

Brookwood’s Pentagon™

Brookwood’s Pentagon™

Excellent Choice for Rainwear

This waterproof and breathable laminate is soft and comfortable against the skin. While protecting against the elements, it also moves moisture vapor away from the body to keep the wearer dry. Pentagon stretches and recovers with the fabric that it is applied to, which is a unique feature in a waterproof breathable laminate. A lining is not needed, which saves production time, weight, and cost. It’s a smart choice because it’s:

  • Comfortable
  • Protective
  • Durable
  • Economical
  • Breathable

We can apply this technology to the fabric substrate of your choice, in any color you choose. We can also help select the right fabric for your garment when you contact Brookwood for examples of previous projects.

Fabrics solutions for your technical specifications

Fabrics solutions for your technical specifications

Brookwood’s manufacturing capabilities, combined with the technical knowledge and over 30 years of experience make us the ideal choice for an industrial material that requires meeting a specification. At the Industrial Fabrics show (IFAI) last year, a customer approached us to help them solve a problem they were having on covers for recreational vehicles. The material they were using was not performing to their needs, and the sunlight reflecting off metal was burning holes in the fabric. We were able to create a solution with a 2-sided fabric: a back that reflects light, and a face that is aesthetically pleasing while holding up to the tensile, tear strength, and cold cracking specifications necessary for the cover’s environmental exposure. This is one of many success stories for Brookwood’s industrial and medical fabrics. What material challenges can we help you solve?
